8/30/2023 0 Comments Rama lama ding dong surfer lingoAnd Serbia’s leading doo wop band ‘Vampiri’ once did a cover. British migraine inducing band ‘Showaddywaddy’ did a cover. I must be the only one because this song caught on like the bubonic plague. Why is the girl called rama lama doodah folly nolly boo bah chitty chatty ding dong? I just, why? What? Who? Eh? What, what – what’s happening? I’m so confused. Something must be seriously wrong with the fella who wrote this. Bloody Nora! He’s a frickin’ kidnapper! Jesus, quick, someone call the fuzz! I mean, seriously, what were her parents thinking? Who names their child that? More worryingly, a few lines later we get, ‘I’ll never set her free’. The Edsels ‘Rama Lama Ding Dong’ starts with ‘I got a girl named Rama Lama, Rama Lama Ding Dong’. ‘We Go Together’ contains the mind-screwing lyrics, ‘We go together, like rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga ding, remembered forever, as shoobop sha wadda wadda yippity boom de boom, chang chang changitty chang shoobop’, then ‘like dip dadip dadip doowop da doobee doo’ and then it goes on some more in its world of manic gibberish. ![]() This song is not to be confused with ‘We Go Together’ from the horrible musical Grease, released in 1971. Yes, they weren’t very good at the whole ‘naming’ malarkey… The bands original name was ‘The Essos’, named after the oil company. ![]() They were named after a gorgeous Ford, new at the time. And yes, ‘The Edsels’ is a crap name for a band. For those not in the know, which I’m imagining is a colossal number of you, ‘Rama Lama Ding Dong’ was a song released by the band The Edsels 57 years ago, 32 years before I was even born. Seriously, I mean, did this song make any sense in the 1950s when it was released? I always think of everyone in the 1960s as being on drugs, but clearly, The Edsels started early. Gee, what the – really? Oh, God, whoever came up with this question needs shooting. Press Play in the Video Above to Listen to
