My iPhone has not had anywhere near as frustrating as a learning curve as this computer. So my question really becomes, was purchasing an iMac for the sole reason of having my music in one place on an Apple product a good idea? Or have we spent a few thousand dollars on a glorified paperweight: one that is quite user unfriendly and an uphill battle to run smoothly? I don’t think wi-fi can ever be a reliable medium within which to do such a large-scale transfer of files. But that quit somewhere in the B’s which was more than 10,000 files short of what I was trying to transfer. Then, an online chat rep suggested I use Home Sharing to transfer between my old PC and my new iMac. And then it looks like the album artwork and other metadata are missing. I first tried to use an external drive, but several thousand files ended up missing from iTunes after dragging and dropping. But days later, I am still unable to successfully transfer my music files, playlists, album artwork, in perfect harmony. I have maintained a large library in iTunes for more than a decade on two older Windows PCs, and I thought that an iMac would make this a more seamless experience, because both are Apple products: hardware and software. I was very excited at first, but I am honestly already tired of struggling with iTunes or the new Music app or whatever Apple wants to call it now. Music/iTunes App Broken? Should I return my iMac? I recently received an iMac as a very expensive Christmas gift from my spouse. It shows old files that are no longer in the Books app, and will not show the correct listing of the 13 directories of files that I imported into Books. And because it only "sees" 8 disks instead of 13, I can't rearrange the files to play in the proper order.įrom the Finder, I have tried to see if I could transfer these to my phone and change the order that way. I created a playlist in the Books app and moved the files into it, but they are all out of order. How did the Books app know which directories the files were in originally, and why isn't it importing them the way they are named? I do not understand this because I imported them one at a time. I went into the Books app and imported these files, and they imported only as they appears in iTunes-as just 8 "disks" with multiple chapters combined. So now I have a list of Cds called "" "" etc. I renamed the actual files on my HD by separating them into different directories, one per CD. I created a playlist of these files in iTunes, but the Music app is inadequate to use for playback (no option to speed up the audio). If I try to handle the metadata for the files using the Info command, I cannot change these to "audio books" in the options menu. Here are the steps I used, and the problems I can't figure out.Īfter burning 13 CDs, iTunes has placed them in only 8 "disks." For example, one "disk" shows all the files from CDs #2 and #13. Syncing audio book to phone file names will not update I have a audio book on CD that I burned to my Mac in iTunes. Thank you all so much for your suggestions and advice! I'm not looking for a free program I want something with an intuitive interface that is easy to use and I want to be able to transfer and backup songs by playlist, not just by song. So, I'm looking for alternatives to TouchCopy. TouchCopy's only response was to check and make sure that I was running the latest version of the Windows. My new Dell PC has run perfectly in every way and allows all of my other programs, including iTunes with my iPod recognized, to launch. However, TouchCopy 16 will no longer launch for me because of 1) something in one of the numerous and infamous Windows updates disabled something that TouchCopy needs to run, or 2) because of something in how my new (one month) Dell Inspiron 3880 with Windows 10 Home is configured. The amount of music and number of files on it is more than I can handle manually, so for the last few years, I've used TouchCopy (TC12,TC16) as my music file and backup manager, and been very happy with the arrangement. I have an old 160G iPod Classic that works fine. 8/31/2023 0 Comments Minecraft lego bee set$24.97 $24.99 Coming soon LEGO Lunar New Year Display 80110 Product details Official name LEGO The Bee Farm SKU 211016913719340205 Pieces 238 Theme LEGO Minecraft LEGO price $15.99 Instructions Download instruction manual Others also viewed LEGO The Crafting Box 4.0 21249 LEGO bricks and pieces are dropped, heated, crushed, twisted and analyzed to make sure your child's building set meets the highest safety and quality standards in the world.LEGO building sets meet the highest industry standards, which means they are consistent, compatible and connect and pull apart perfectly every time – it's been that way since 1958.With high-quality, authentic-looking models, LEGO Minecraft sets take kids’ play experience into a new dimension! Thankfully, the compilation’s other two offerings are more reliable and entertaining. I wouldn’t play Razing Storm again with a normal controller, much less with the PlayStation Move. My AI teammates would frequently walk directly into my line of fire while I was shooting, and at one point a fellow soldier signaled that an area was clear and waved me ahead by pointing directly at an enemy who was shooting him in the face. Sparse checkpoints and the game’s penchant for ambushing you with floods of enemies that attack from all directions neutralize any fun you might have with the eccentric arsenal.Įven if you can overcome these hurdles, the horribly stupid AI puts Razing Storm leagues behind modern first-person shooters. Even if these mechanics worked as intended, moving and looking around the environment is an exercise in frustration. The system works sometimes, but more often than not the spots don’t activate properly, leaving you staring at the sky as your enemies mercilessly fill you with lead. Aim back at the screen and the camera will automatically position itself for the best view of the battlefield. Standing at one of these spots and pointing the controller at the ceiling will result in you taking cover. Razing Storm also has “G Action” locations littered throughout the environment. The game compensates for this shortcoming with the ability to snap your view (but not reticule) to enemies with the press of a button, which is mildly helpful. The result is sluggish, drunken aiming and a general inability to deftly navigate your environment. Like many Wii games, Razing Storm uses the motion controller to both point your reticule and rotate your view. The main offering in the collection is Razing Storm, which proves that the Wii doesn’t have a monopoly on bad first-person shooters made worse by poorly implemented motion controls. That said, the entertainment value provided by this trio of games ranges from mediocre to dreadful, reminding players that “more” doesn’t always translate to “better.” Time Crisis: Razing Storm avoids this pitfall by packing three full (albeit shallow) games into one compilation, placing it among the more robust offerings available to early adopters of Sony’s new tech. After this battle, he disintegrates into dust. Most of the PlayStation Move’s launch titles haven’t offered gamers a lot of content beyond a collection of simple minigames. In the second phase, he mutates into a more nightmarish, Lovecraftian form that can fire homing skulls and bite the player(s). The first phase has Vincent mainly use his swords to slash at the heroes and summon his skeletal minions. However, Vincent reveals himself and swallows the treasure to power himself up. It's not known how he died, but after his demise, Vincent and his skeleton crew guarded the island and the treasure with their undead lives.Īs the heroes arrived on Vincent's ship, Eric spotted their goal, being Poseidon's Breath. Some way or another, he, his ship and crew ended up on the island where the game takes place. It is unknown exactly how he acquired or used Poseidon's Breath in life, but judging by his large ship and the piles of gold aboard, he used it to amass a fortune. Not much is known about Vincent, but at some point while he was alive, he obtained the treasured Poseidon's Breath. Undead Pirate Captain Vincent is the main antagonist in Deadstorm Pirates. 8/31/2023 0 Comments Best madeira wineAs sending wine around the globe was costly, island producers developed methods to replicate the ageing process locally. The addition of small quantities of brandy prevented this.Ī shipment of wine that travelled circumnavigated the world returned to the island, and the locals found it had improved from the oxidation and heat. Brief History of Madeira Wineįrom the late 1400s, ships bound for the Americas or the East Indies stopped at the Portuguese island of Madeira, off the coast of Morocco, to pick up wine for the voyage, which quickly spoiled. Madeira wine has a higher acidity and dryer finish than Port or Sherry and pairs well with red meats, seafood, cheeses and dark/bitter chocolate desserts. This blend is usually naturally warmed using the Canteiro method of production and then aged in oak barrels for at least 3 years. Madeira wine is made by fortifying fermenting grape juice with brandy. Malvasia (or Malmsey) is sweet (rich) and tastes like rich dark chocolate.Bual (or Boal) is medium-sweet, showing chocolate, raisin, and burnt caramel notes.Verdelho is medium-dry, smoky, and honeyed, with hints of caramel. Sercial Madeira is dry and crisp with citrus notes. What Does Madeira Wine Taste Like?ĭepending on the variety, Madeira wine reveals flavours of dark fruits such as plum or apricot, citrus, marmalade, caramel, honey, burnt sugar, and gently spiced oak. Madeira wine is a fortified wine produced by blending fermenting grape juice and brandy, then ageing in oak barrels. Henriques & Henriques Madeira Sercial 15 Years Old is best served as an aperitif or complementing seafood and hard cheeses. An integral acidity complements the flavours of nuts, dried apricot, and orange marmalade leading to a long finish. Initial sweetness gives way to a semi-dry palate despite considerable residual sugar. Rich dried fruits, nuts and orange peel On The Palate It’s a semi-dry Madeira, so leans more towards being a Port wine. This Sercial Madeira wine is made from 100% Sercial grapes, matured using the Canteiro method (aged without artificial heat) for 15 years in oak barrels. The company stayed in the family’s hands till 1968, when the last Henriques died, leaving the business to collaborators and friends. Still, it was in 1912 that a partnership between his sons led to the name Henriques & Henriques. João Gonçalves Henriques formed the company in 1850. 8/31/2023 0 Comments Synergy medical center of savannahCaroline Strickland, MBA-HCA, CPCS, CPMSM, FMSP, Sr.Julie Simmons, CPCS, CPMSM, FMSP, Manager, Medical Staff Services, Mercy Health-West Hospital, Cincinnati, OH.Riedel, BS, CPCS, CPMSM, FMSP, Consultant, Epsom, NH Faith Rhoades, MMHC, CPCS, CPMSM, FMSP, Director of Medical Staff Services, Huntsville Hospital System, Huntsville, AL.Debi Potter, CPMSM, CPCS, FMSP, Manager, Medical Staff Services, LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, Blacksburg, VA.Charles "Chip" Petersen, CPMSM, CPCS, FMSP, President/Consultant, The PETERSEN Group, Livonia, MI.Lorrie Paulus, CPMSM, CPCS, FMSP, Director, Credentials & Medical Staff Affairs, Mercy Hospital Fairfield, Fairfield, OH.Gina Mortensen, BS, CPMSM, CPCS, RHIT, FMSP, Director, Medical Staff Services, Platte Valley Medical Center, Brighton, CO.Diane Meldi, MBA, CPCS, CPMSM, FMSP, Springfield, MO. 8/31/2023 0 Comments Hd radio tuner carIn response there are plans and companies who will add components such as internal fans and backup capacitors to make up for the original design’s shortcomings. But it had issues … it tends to run hot, and doesn’t retain station presets or the clock when it loses power. Sony once had one of the best HD tuners ever - the XDR-F1HD. If you are willing to search deeper into the auction sites, a few other models are definitely worth looking for. Older models can be found on eBay and similar sites, including the original HDT-1 and HDT-1X component tuners, both available at very reasonable prices. There are other brands around including Sparc, but I have no experience with them. Available models include the HDR-18 table/clock radio, the HDT-20 component tuner, and the HDR-16 portable radio. They have always been among the best available and the current crop are better than ever. Heck, it’s hard to buy a regular radio locally.įor currently-available models, I recommend Sangean. So regular tuners and radios with HD are rare. Indeed, smart speakers and streaming services have become the new norm for audio listening in the home. People now buy small systems, if they buy one at all. Many factory systems have it, but you do need to confirm, as they are usually an upgrade.įor the home, it is more difficult, primarily because the old standard idea of a home stereo is outdated. It was built in to the Alpine and Kenwood aftermarket radios I put in two of our cars, and the cost was basically the same as I expected to pay for non-HD units. The cost is the same as all but the cheapest radios, and you really don’t want the cheapest radios. RecommendationsĪll that being said, if you want to try HD radio, for the car just look for a radio that has it. That doesn’t bode well for the future of HD. If I, a total radio geek who loves radio and just tuning around to find interesting stations, is doubting the use of HD radio, what is the typical consumer doing? I imagine not even thinking about it. That is one of six HD tuners I own and rarely use for HD - the two in the cars being an exception I am still in the process of deciding whether to just sell them or put them in storage for the time when all digital AM becomes common … if ever.Īnd that creates a problem. Inside the house I usually use the smart speaker. I can still hear radio outside, but rarely use the tuner. I handle it by just not listening to those stations at home, but I digress. Additionally, due to greed on the part of station owners who want to monetize their own apps, not all stations are available on any of the apps. Of course if you have an HD tuner in your car or home it would be technically easier to use than having to make sure you’re connected to the internet and knowing how to run the app. Interference between stations aside, I think AM via HD sounds tremendously better than typical analog, and the extra channels on FM - when done right as with Saul Levine’s HD stations at 105.1 - add a great entertainment source.īut over the past few years, various smart phone apps and smart speakers have come on the scene, and many stations stream their programming there, making HD tuners duplicative and perhaps unnecessary. I actually think it has the potential to be a good platform. As I did it, I looked at my HD tuner, and wondered why I have it.ĭon’t get me wrong … I am not against HD radio per se. I have had a stereo in my back yard for many years the other day I was doing some work outside and thought I’d simplify a few things … get rid of the broken cassette deck, for example. What brought on my thinking is actually opposite of what Rick is thinking. But I was already planning about talking about HD radios and tuners this week anyway … the planets must be aligning in some way. I do have some recommendations, which I will get to in a minute. Do you have any recommendations?” - Rick Adams “I read your column each week and many thanks for the radio stations you have turned me on to, most recently KHUG ( I’ve been looking into replacing my home stereo with one that has HD digital reception. 8/31/2023 0 Comments Idw autobot megatronWhatever the case, IDW's Transformers run is headed in quite an unexpected direction, because the promised end of the war could be the Autobots and Decepticons uniting against an even more dangerous threat that makes Megatron look tame. Transformers Megatron IDW Autobot Version Furai Model. Pages in category 'IDW (2005) Autobots' The following 200 pages are in this category, out of 299 total. It's quite possible the true enemy is in fact Unicron, the monstrous being who's plagued the Transformers heroes so many times. Category:IDW (2005) Autobots Autobot characters in the 2005 IDW continuity. How Exarchon evolved, and who equipped him with the war materiel he needed to begin his conflict on Cybertron the first time, are major outstanding questions. IDW has yet to explain Exarchon's true origin. idea over the Dreamwave and thus onwards to IDW and the aligned stuff. With different injection color of runner parts and simple assembly design, it will also be suitable for model kit beginners. Joints are made of soft plastic so it will have a stable movable performance. Exarchon almost destroyed Cybertron once before - and now the schism between the Autobots and the Decepticons risks giving him another opportunity. 246 Transformers and its associated characters are owned by Hasbro Marvel Comics. Great articulation with over 40 movable joints. Exarchon is the first real enemy that's seemed to take advantage of the Transformers' nature as mechanical beings rather than organic ones, because for all the Autobots understand him as an organic virus, in truth he's more comparable to a computer virus. The concept feels like a natural evolution of the Transformers franchise - possibly the first proper evolution there's been in decades, given they've been locked in an Autobot-versus-Decepticon status quo in practically every medium. 8/31/2023 0 Comments Quit like a woman chrissyIt is certainly geared towards Gen Y, millennial and Gen X career-aged women (ages 18-45), but this is the “truth to power” book we need as a culture. If you have ever even had an inkling or question around your “relationship” with alcohol, you must read this book. The only thing that really, truly stuck was asking “why am I doing this?” Why am I doing ALL THE THINGS for my health but I’m still pouring poison into my body? Is this habit helping me reach my best life? Do I really care about the social capital of being “good at wine” so much that I am willing to sabotage my health for it?įinally the answer is no, I’m not. Like the author I also tried twelve-step programs and every form of self-help possible. All the things we do to keep ourselves healthy. One day over a month ago I took a sip of (not good) wine and a thought popped into my head, “why am I doing this?” I poured it out. I lived and breathed and ate and slept alcohol for years. My story closely parallels the authors (especially through high school and college) except for the fact that I actually used to work in the alcoholic beverage industry for several years, I even went back to school for it. This showed up on my doorstep yesterday, the last day of the (my drunkest) decade. I preordered this in August or September and then forgot about it. Honest, witty and trenchant, Quit Like a Woman is at once a ground-breaking look at drinking culture, a call to arms, and a celebration of learning how to claim everything life has to offer. Urging drinkers towards a newfound humility is great if you're a man, but if you're a woman and not in a position to renounce privileges you never had, a whole other approach is needed. When Holly Whitaker started to look for a way to recover, the support systems she found for recovery where archaic and patriarchal. As a society, we are obsessed with health and wellness, yet we uphold alcohol as some sort of magic elixir. In fact, the only thing ever questioned is why people don't drink.
